Digital I/q Imbalance Compensation in a Low-if Receiver

چکیده

Double) Low-IF receiver architectures avoid the need for expensive image-reject and channel selection filters and so reduce cost. This approach however introduces the need for an accurate in-phase and quadrature version of the first local oscillator. In this document we present a way to digitally measure amplitude and phase imbalances and compensate for them. Simulations show image-reject values round 50 dB with amplitude imbalances of more than 10% and phase imbalances of more than 10 degrees. Although we focus on GSM-like applications, the algorithms are suitable for other Low-IF systems as well.

Preamble Design for an Efficient I/Q Imbalance Compensation in OFDM Direct-Conversion Receivers

The growing number of different mobile communications standards calls for inexpensive and highly flexible receiver architectures supporting these standards. The direct-conversion receiver is a very attractive candidate for reaching this goal. However, unavoidable imbalances between the Iand the Q-branch of the I/Q demodulator lead to a significant performance degradation at the reception of OFD...

A Low-complexity Feed-forward I/Q Imbalance Compensation Algorithm

This paper presents a low-complexity adaptive feedforward I/Q imbalance compensation algorithm. The feed-forward solution has guaranteed stability. Due to its blind nature the algorithm is easily incorporated into an existing receiver design. The algorithm uses three estimators to obtain the necessary parameters for the I/Q imbalance compensation structure. The algorithm complexity is low due t...

New I/Q imbalance modeling and compensation in OFDM systems with frequency offset

In this paper, a new model and compensation scheme of quadrature imbalance in analog I/Q OFDM transceivers is presented. Classically, the effect of I/Q imbalance is modeled by a cross-talk between pairs of symmetrical OFDM sub-carriers. We show that this model is not valid when the carrier frequency offset is compensated after the source of I/Q mismatch. Assuming a perfect digital compensation ...

In-Phase and Quadrature Imbalance Compensation by Using Direct Conversion Transmitters

While transmitting the data over communication channel, various problems such as communication error and mismatch arises. For reducing those errors, frequency selective I/Q imbalance using Direct Conversion transmitters can be implemented. I/Q imbalance compensation procedure has been derived and incoherent measurements are required for avoiding the need for time, frequency and phase synchroniz...
